Hello Bud Rank Family!
So far it has been an awesome school year! PTC has had so many great events and fundraisers that we have been able to give back to our teachers, students and parents alike. Thank you to our board members, parents, and all volunteers who have helped us by donating to our school and helping us raise funds for the school. Thank you to Mr. Gettman for being such a great Principal, leader, and supporter for our school and PTC. A HUGE THANK YOU to our teachers who continue to remind us daily why we have the best faculty of teachers and assistants out of all CUSD elementary schools!
As we approach Spring Break, we are reminded that our school year is rapidly approaching the end. We have just under two months left. I believe that ultimately teachers, students, and parents are thinking about the reality that changes are coming, including going into a higher grade, and in some cases going into junior high school. From our teachers standpoint they are starting to realize that they will be losing their existing students. Our teachers know that starting next school year they will not see them everyday and in some cases they will have limited times here and there when they do see their former students. What are teachers have to go through yearly has to be gut wrenching. They build bonds with these children and they have such an impact on them that it's hard to let go no matter how many years they do it. I have discussed this before that it will be an emotional time for teachers, students, and parents after building these life long relationships during this school year. Students will most likely say and feel that they wish they could keep their existing teacher for next year also. Unfortunately for them in most cases that won't be possible. For our teachers I can't imagine how it feels to have to lose and say goodbye to anywhere from 27-35 students every school year after spending so much time with our children(and in some cases see our children more than parents). In the classroom, in sports, and in extra curricular activities rest assured our teachers have poured their heart and soul into supporting, helping, and guiding our students. Our teachers and administrators are so committed to our children's success that as a parent it should make us extremely proud and fortunate to be attending Bud Rank. A teacher's day does not begin at 7:45 and end at 2:40pm like our students. They have to get to their classrooms 30 minutes earlier, they have to review what they will be lecturing on, and what subjects they will be going over for that day also before they start with their students. In addition our teachers have to do yard duty, crosswalk our children, and monitor all recesses. Then after 2:40pm they will be coaching sports or teaching in extra curricular activities until 4:30pm. After that they go home they get to grade homework, assignments, and tests. Once that task is completed then they get to create a lesson plan for the next day all while trying to spend time with their families also. That is a COMMITMENT and love for your profession that is unmatched.
I want to thank Mrs. Sanchez for all of her hard work and support for our children and especially for our sixth graders Sonora trip! The feedback I received was that it was a great and memorable trip. Thank you to the teachers and parent chaperones for taking time away from their families to help and take care of our children in their first experience of being on their own for a few days. Speaking of our sixth graders I'm sure our sixth grade parents are starting to realize that Granite Ridge and being in junior high school is fast approaching. After parent night, selecting classes, and meeting with school counselors it hit really hard to realize it's here. As I have mentioned in the past I encourage all of our parents to take time out of your busy schedules and do some one on one time with your children and do some activities together. We have our daughters dance coming up, more sporting events, and extracurricular activities for you to be able to join your kids at school. In general try and do some weekend trips and make an effort to have dinner at home more for family time and conversation.
Don't forget my favorite event is coming soon and that is our teacher appreciation week beginning the week of May 5,th! Let our teachers know how much you appreciate them.....
Once again that you all for your continued support for PTC!
Thank you
